Geng Day Master (庚, gēng)
Definition
Geng Metal (庚金, gēng jīn) is yang Metal on the Day pillar: ore and forged edge that cuts through ambiguity under pressure. In BaZi, Geng often signals justice instincts, direct speech, and respect for clear rules and competent action.
Overview
Geng Day Masters frequently appear in readings about decision, reform, and crisis clarity. The raw-to-forged arc mirrors training through challenge. Fire control can refine Geng or feel like overwhelming pressure; Water Output can express Geng through speech, strategy, or movement.

Elemental support and pressure
BaZi readers describe other stems and branches relative to your Day Master usingFive Elements generation (生) and control (克). For Geng as Yang Metal, common patterns include:
- Earth (Resource) supports Geng and prevents brittle Metal; weak Earth may read as edge without backing.
- Metal (Peer) adds allies and rivalry; strong peers can mean competition or solidarity.
- Water (Output) expresses Geng through ideas, trade, and communication themes in Ten Gods.
- Fire (Officer) controls and refines; balanced Fire tempers; excessive Fire can feel like constant trial by heat.
These are orientation lines, not prescriptions. Month season, hidden stems, and Luck Pillars still decide what feels supportive in a given year.
Geng vs Xin: same element, different stem
Xin is yin refined Metal: jewelry and precision polish. Geng is yang raw and forged Metal that leads with force and clarity. Both value standards; Geng emphasizes edge, Xin emphasizes refinement.

Ten Gods and Luck Pillars with Geng
Ten Gods (十神, shíshén) name how each stem relates to your Day Master: Resource, Peer, Output, Wealth, and Officer roles shift with element and yin/yang. When Geng is the reference, Month and Hour stems often color career structure, relationships, and output themes.
Luck Pillars (大运, dàyùn) add decade-scale climate. A luck cycle heavy in your Resource element may feel like training or backup; Officer-heavy luck may feel like tests, rules, or accountability. Use how to read a BaZi chart for sequence, then the app for Daily Qi and timing detail.
